Tonight I’m taking part in the Ninja Master‘s Genre Favourites Blogfest.

Initially, I thought participating in this blogfest would be easy. After all, all I have to do is list my favourite genre of movie, music, books and a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories. But then I realised something… I don’t really have genre favourites! Seriously, I don’t! So, instead, I’m going to list a handful of my specific favourites in each category, which will give you an idea of how NOT clustered into genre they are.

My guilty pleasure
Since I’m already breaking the rules, I’m going to share a guilty pleasure that doesn’t actually fit into any of the above genres. But it’s still entertainment, so I’m not straying too far. My guilty pleasure is… reality television. Right now, as I’m writing this, I’m watching Big Brother Australia (nomination night!) and taping X Factor Australia. I also quite enjoy Misbehaving Mums to Be and World’s Strictest Parents. I even like Border Security. Yes, it’s a very, very guilty pleasure!

When it comes to books, my favourites are young adult, but I guess there are loads of different genres of young adult books, so … something with romance, fantasy, mystery …
Movies and music are all over the place for me too! I can listen to Eminem and Debussy on the same car ride home

Well we currently have a presidential candidate (Mitt Romney) who is a fan of “The Jersey Shore” so I guess that if anyone is signing on to reality television, you are at least in good company with the Republicans in my country. That is…if you consider them good company. During commercials you guys could talk about how rich you are, how the poors are just looking for a handout, and how angels and unicorns are real.

Not much in common with you here save for the music! I do like reality TV, but mainly the cooking shows like “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Master Chef.” That Aussie show about security at the airport hurts tourism if you ask me.

Some reality TV can be quite addictive. We had a Celebrity Big Brother in the UK that I ended up following.
I love reality TV, too. Certain shows anyway.

There are a few specific genres that I prefer over others, but I do enjoy other genres from time to time.
Hello, Cally. Yes, my favorites are all over the place. I write horror, but love Rom Coms. I love the songs in Moulin Rouge, and although I grew up with 80′s hair metal bands and live in California, I, too, love Missy Higgins.

Enjoyed your lists, but I admit to have never watched a minute of reality TV.
There were several books and musicians I hadn’t heard of and several I have (and liked). I’ll have to look into some of those others.
